This statement covers the Sound Skylights Stockport website. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We have built towards that standard and checked parts of it, and we are still testing the rest. Where we know of a gap, it is listed below.
Part 1
What we have built in
- A link at the top of every page that skips straight to the main content.
- Headings in a logical order, so screen reader users can move around a page by heading.
- A visible outline around links and buttons when you move through the page with a keyboard.
- Text and background colours checked for contrast in a browser, on both light and dark parts of the page.
- Text descriptions on photos that carry meaning, and decorative images hidden from screen readers.
- Tables that stay readable on a phone, without scrolling sideways.
- Animation that is reduced when your device is set to reduce motion.
- Fonts served from our own site, so text does not depend on an outside service.
Part 2
Parts we are still testing
We are testing the following, and will update this statement as we go:
- The enquiry form. It is provided by an outside system and shown inside our pages. We are testing how well it works with a keyboard alone and with screen readers. If you have any trouble with it, email or WhatsApp us instead.
- The coverage map. The map is visual. The same information is given as text on the areas page, which lists every town and village we cover by direction.
- Zoom and text size. We are testing pages at high zoom and with larger text settings to make sure nothing overlaps or gets cut off.
- Photo descriptions. We are checking that every image description is useful and accurate.
Part 3
Getting information another way
If you find any part of this website hard to use, we can give you the same information another way. We can explain a guide by email or WhatsApp in plain text, answer questions about a rooflight in writing, or talk you through the survey and quote when we visit. Just tell us what works best for you. If reading on a screen is hard, a conversation at the survey can cover everything a page says, and we can send the key points afterwards in a short message.
Part 4
Telling us about a problem
If something on this website does not work for you, please tell us. Write to info@soundskylightsstockport.co.uk or reach us through WhatsApp 07880 284133, giving the page address, what you were trying to do and, if you are happy to, the device, browser or assistive technology you were using.
You can also phone us on 0161 410 1861.
We will reply, put the problem on our list to fix, and give you the information you need in the meantime.
Part 5
How the website is built
The pages are built with standard HTML and CSS. JavaScript runs the map, the mobile menu and the short WhatsApp form. We are testing how each page behaves with JavaScript turned off, and with the screen readers and browsers people use most widely on phones and computers. The guides, answers and service pages are text first, so they should read clearly in a screen reader or with images switched off.
Part 6
About this statement
This statement was prepared on 31 October 2026, based on checks made while the website was built. We will check it again as testing continues and whenever we make significant changes to the site.
